who are you

Oooh that’s a deep question to start this off with!

But, a very important question.

You have to recognize who you are and your own personality in order to get this done right.

If you recognize what you do well then you know what you need to work less on.

If you recognize what you don’t do so well then you know what you should either try to adjust or work with your personality to make those things have a better flow in your favor.

What do you not do so well?

It was tempting to start this off with what you do well. But, I didn’t want you leaving this page with a sense of regret.

So, we will start with the hard stuff and then make it better.

The scary part is that you MUST be honest with yourself. Sometimes you may not like what you realize but recognizing the things will make it easier for you to succeed.

I mean, let’s take a look at myself. When I started this journey I had to have a major “come to Jesus” meeting with myself.

My husband and I were in almost $90,000 worth of debt. We don’t have a mortgage so I couldn’t even blame it on that.

Keep a long story short and straight to the point it simply happened because I did a poor job at managing our money. I didn’t want to admit that. That’s embarrassing.

But you know what? I had to suck it up and put my big girl britches on before anything was going to change.

Are you ready to put your big girl britches on?

What are the things you struggle with? I said struggle, not failed.

I want you to realize that although some of your habits might not be pleasant it doesn’t mean failure. It just means you have something to move into the right direction.

We are not perfect human beings, so yes, there are things we suck at. There are mistakes we make in life.

My theory is that a mistake is only a mistake if you don’t learn anything. Otherwise, it is a journey to perfection. So, how would you know perfection if you’ve never made a mistake?

Are you ready to start this journey?

So, grab your notebook or word document and list the things that you could use help with. Don’t worry. I’m not going you to broadcast this or anything. It is simply to make you aware of what your stumbling blocks can be on this journey so you can tackle them better.

Those could be things like:

  • Planning
  • Organization
  • Keeping track of your money
  • Staying on top of tasks
  • Spending too much money
  • Not knowing where your money is going
  • Staying out of the drive thru
  • Keeping your pantry and fridge cleaned out
  • Buying too much during your shopping trips
  • Keeping track of all your families activities
  • Remembering special occasions

I know it’s tough, but if you can get through this very first task then you are well on your way to better days when it comes to your dinner planning and having extra money to do the things you desire.

Just stick with me.

What do you do well?

Usually the easy part is recognizing the things you do well. Those things are very important because those are the things you want to keep doing. No matter what anyone says.

For instance, I know that when I shop I do a much better job at keeping under my budget if I use my debit card.

According to research this should not be the case because they say people spend less when they feel the physical money leaving their fingers.

Money does not have that kind of affect on me. Instead, I am more of a “seeing the numbers” girl. I don’t like to see that number in my bank statement get low.

If I didn’t recognize this about myself then I would be doing what everyone else says to do and setting myself up for a much more difficult journey.

So, let’s start get you thinking about what you do well or better.

This could be things like:

  • Planning
  • Organization
  • Keeping track of your money
  • Staying on top of tasks
  • Staying under budget with your debit card
  • Staying under budget with your cash
  • Buying foods that are on sale (even if they do ruin in your fridge)
  • Cleaning out your fridge and throwing all that ruined food away
  • Knowing what your family likes and keeping it in stock
  • Keeping track of all your families activities
  • Remembering special occasions

Alright, now think long and hard. List down all the things you do well.

It’s OK to brag on yourself.

AWESOME!

Let’s keep going…

There are some things we do in life that can be changed through habits. Then there are others that are just what they are because it is the thing that makes us who we are. You just have to decide where we want to go and what needs to happen to get there.

Are you ready to talk about who do you want to be?
